Sporting organisations across Bega and the Eurobodalla can take advantage of up to $4.65 million in funding following the opening of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
The Program provides grants to community sporting organisations for new equipment, programs and facility upgrades that support and encourage participation in sport and active recreation in NSW.
Last year $4.49 million was awarded across the State for 586 community sport projects.
This year’s program includes grants from $2,000 - $20,000, with up to $50,000 available in each electorate to support projects that increase participation and retention, provide inclusive opportunities for under-represented groups and strengthen the sustainability, capability and facilities of community sporting organisations.
Applications close 1pm, Monday, 17 August. Visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/grants-and-funding for further information and to apply.
Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland MP said:
"Across the Bega Electorate, our sporting clubs are at the centre of community life. They provide opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, build friendships and feel connected.
This funding can help clubs deliver practical improvements, whether that's purchasing equipment, upgrading facilities or introducing new programs that make it easier for more people to get involved.
I encourage every eligible sporting organisation to have a look at the program and consider applying. Even a modest grant can make a lasting difference to a club and the community it serves.
Our local clubs do an incredible job creating welcoming places where people can participate, compete and belong, and this program is an investment in keeping those opportunities strong for years to come."
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:
"Community sport is the heartbeat of so many towns and suburbs across this state, and the Minns Labor Government is backing it in.
"Our volunteers and local clubs do the heavy lifting week in, week out, often with limited resources, and this is our way of saying we've got their back.
"If your club has a project or program it's been wanting to deliver, now is the time to apply and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity."
