Mental Health Support remains a critical issue across the Bega Electorate, particularly in regional and rural communities where access to timely care can be challenging. Continued investment in accessible, community-based mental health care is essential to ensure people across the Bega electorate can receive the support they need, close to home. 

Local services are providing important support for people experiencing mental health distress, crisis and social isolation. Here is a list of some of our local mental health providers that can assist you in times of need:

  • Way Ahead is a comprehensive database of more than 5000 mental health related services across NSW.
  • Lifeline - 13 11 14 - offers 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.
  • Kids Helpline is a free, confidential online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
  • Headspace Maitland is a confidential service for young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing a tough time or are worried about drug and alcohol use, mental and physical wellbeing, sexual health and more.
  • Wesley Mission provides financial and gambling counselling, family programs, in-patient and day patient treatments, psychiatric support, 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.
  • Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation supports children impacted by family mental illness.
  • Reach Out.com provides online tools and support to help young people get support and feel better.
  • The Black Dog Institute provides tools and services to aid people affected by mental health conditions such as depression and bipolar disorder.
  • BeyondBlue's NewAccess program provides free and confidential access to a support coach either over the phone or face to face.
  • St Vincent de Paul Society helps with addiction, disability, disaster relief, domestic violence, emergency housing and homelessness support, finances, food, health and resettling in Australia.
  • The Butterfly Foundation provides support for people experiencing eating disorders, their family and friends.
  • One Door designs and delivers mental health programs accessible through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  • WHOS provides therapeutic programs aimed at achieving recovery from alcohol and other drug dependence.
