I recognise the life of Stuart Absalom, whose commitment to service, community and care left a lasting impression on the South Coast.

Stuart’s professional life reflected his wish to help others. His contributions spanned horticulture, nursing, community development, aged care and disability services. Stuart brought practical skill, compassion and a belief that people and places thrive when they are cared for.

Stuart was a beloved member of the Tilba community and a longstanding member of the South Coast Health and Sustainability Alliance. He contributed to Elm Grove Sanctuary and Open Sanctuary at Tilba Tilba, where community, nature, contemplation and spirituality came together.

Stuart gave his time, knowledge and energy to many causes. He cared deeply about justice, truth telling and stronger communities. He is remembered as an intelligent, kind and level-headed man whose love took action. He demonstrated his care for community through steady work, generosity and compassion.

His contribution will live on through the organisations he supported, the causes he championed and the many people whose lives he touched.

I extend my deepest condolences to Stuart’s partner Philip, his children, grandchildren, family and many friends.

Stuart Absalom will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
