Monty's place is a community Cafe located at the Uniting Church Hall in Narooma and named after nearby Montague Island off the coast. They have opened through bushfires and COVID every Wednesday from 12pm to 1.30pm since they started in October 2013. Monty's Place has 40 volunteers on the roster with 20 on at any time. Monty's offers three mains and up to six different desserts all served at tables with red and white checkered tablecloths. Surplus meals are frozen or offered as takeaways. In the first six weeks of this year, they have served a total of 740 meals as dine in, frozen meals and take aways. Monty's Place is very well supported by local clubs, businesses and members of the community with may trades helping to maintain and improve the facilities. I have had the pleasure of attending their Christmas in July lunches at which Narooma residents are catered for by a very busy and efficient kitchen. Thank you to the volunteers and local supporters.
