Congratulations to Mrs Mary Nugent on an extraordinary 37 years of dedicated volunteer service with the St Vincent de Paul Society in Bega.
For nearly four decades, Mary has been the heart and soul of the Bega Vinnies store, serving first as a volunteer before becoming manager. Through her kindness, compassion and tireless commitment, she has supported countless individuals and families while creating a welcoming place for volunteers and customers alike.
Mary's journey with Vinnies began during one of the most difficult periods of her life following the tragic loss of her young son, Patrick. What started as an opportunity to help her heal became a lifelong commitment to serving others. Together with her late husband, Garry, and generations of her family, Mary helped make the Bega Vinnies store a place of community, friendship and hope.
As Mary steps away from her volunteer role, she leaves an extraordinary legacy of service that has enriched the lives of so many across the Far South Coast. On behalf of the people of the Bega electorate, I thank Mary for her remarkable contribution and wish her every happiness as she enjoys more time with her family, especially as a proud great-grandmother.
