I recognise the extraordinary contribution of Mrs Isabel Robinson, whose dedication to public education has shaped generations of young people across the Far South Coast.

Isabel joined the then Eden High School in 1978. She remained a passionate English teacher there until her retirement in 2015 and has continued casual teaching at Eden Marine High School, Bega High School and Bombala High School.

For almost five decades, Isabel has inspired students to understand the power of language, literature and creative expression. Her former students have gone on to careers in medicine, law, engineering, education, politics, science, business and the arts.

Her greatest legacy is the confidence she instilled in young people. Many have returned years later to thank her for believing in them.

Isabel has taught three generations of some local families and has developed a deep appreciation for the history, culture and values of First Nations communities. She speaks with pride of the teachers and support staff she has worked alongside, many who were once her students.

On behalf of the Parliament and the people of the Bega electorate, I thank Isabel Robinson for her outstanding service, unwavering commitment to education and lasting difference to countless lives.
