Congratulations to Finn Banks aged 15 on being just one of 15 selected for the Australian Irukandji Para Surfing Team.

He will represent Australia in the men’s visually impaired category at the International Surfing Association’s (ISA) Para Surfing World Championships in California in November.

Finn won both the Australian Para Surfing Title (visual impairment 2 division) and the Australian Pro Adaptive Surfing Championship in Byron Bay.

After being crowned Australian Para Surfing Champion, Finn won the Association of Adaptive Surfing Professionals (AASP) International Tour events in Byron Bay and Hawaii.

His extraordinary performances earned him the AASP World Tour Title before the final event in the US in September.

Finn started surfing when he was three and only started competing this year.

Finn successfully applied to the NSW Surfing Lab Academy where he does surfing sessions and team exercises throughout the year.

Finn’s next stop on the international stage is California’s Palm Springs in November. They will be competing in the DSRT wave pool.

Finn belongs to the Dalmeny Boardriders and is supported by his parents, Russell and Lucinda, his coach, Matt Hoar, and his school, St Peters Anglican College, Broulee.
