Congratulations to Mr Robert 'Bob' Ainsworth of Marine Rescue Merimbula on being named a finalist for the Marine Rescue NSW Officer of the Year Award in the 2026 Rotary Districts of NSW Emergency Services Community Awards (RESCA).

For more than eight years, Bob has served the Far South Coast community with unwavering dedication as a qualified Coxswain (Restricted), radio operator, trainer, Membership Officer and Executive Officer. His contribution extends far beyond operational duties. Through mentoring fellow volunteers, supporting recruitment and strengthening the unit's operational capability, Bob has played an integral role in ensuring Marine Rescue Merimbula remains a highly skilled, professional and dependable service for local boaters.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers selflessly give their time to keep our waterways safe, often without seeking recognition. Bob's leadership, professionalism and commitment to supporting others embody the very best of volunteer service and have made him an invaluable member of Marine Rescue Merimbula.

This well-deserved recognition reflects Bob's outstanding contribution to our community. On behalf of the people of the Bega electorate, I congratulate Bob on this remarkable achievement and thank him for his continued service and dedication to keeping our community safe.
